The Single Most Important Factor Of Your Business

Hey, it's Marie here with another Q & A Tuesday! Q: And, I'm so excited about this week's question! It's from a gal named Sarah and Sarah writes: "I'm thinking of a new business, what's the main thing to keep in mind? In other words,  what is the most important thing to do first before anything else?”

A: This is a fantastic question, Sarah, and here's why. The most important thing that you need to do before anything else is take a look inside and ask yourself, "What is the reason you're starting this business?" So many people go into business for the wrong reasons and some of those reasons are; one, because they think it's the best way to make more money. So in other words, they're only going into it for the money.

Maybe they've heard from other people like, "Oh, if you run your own business, you can get really rich!" Or they're in a job that they absolutely can't stand and they're looking for an escape route. So they're searching around and looking for anything that they could possibly do to earn more money. They're thinking "Oh, if I just run my own business. That will save me." Those reasons suck! They set you up for failure!

When you start a business, you have to believe in the product or service you're offering 10,000 percent. You have to believe in it with all your heart. The best businesses on the planet are started by people who want to make a difference. So they're either super inspired by what they're creating or they're frustrated and they see a gap in the market that they want to fill because they know.

They're like, "Oh my God. I could do that better! I could make people happier! I could deliver so much more value. I'm going to kick some major ass in this market!" Those are awesome reasons! They come from your heart. They come from your inspiration. As my man P. Diddy says, "Don't chase the paper chase the dream!" Hmm...mm.mm...P. Diddy! Oh, P. Diddy!
