Ever have one of those days where no matter how hard you try, your brain just won’t cooperate?

You can’t seem to focus for more than a nano-second.

Any attempt to “force” concentration results in a circular thought loop that concludes either your brain is broken or you’re a total loser…or likely, both.

You certainly can’t write anything cohesive or get anything substantial done.

Add to that, the ticking clock haunting the background of your mind… as though father time himself is begging you,

“For heaven’s sake, get something productive done today . . .”

Oy.

I’m intimately familiar with those days.

And boy do they suck. Big time.

Figuring I’m not alone on this one, I thought it’d be useful to share some of my favorite ways to move my business ahead when my brain calls in sick.

I had a really entertaining and enlivening talk today with my friend Scott Stratten. Earlier this year, Scott shared a few nuggets of Twitter wisdom with me that really made an impact and for that, I’m truly grateful. Especially, because at the time, I was a total Twitter newbie and doing it all freaking wrong.

So today Scott says, “Hey Marie, how’d your Rich, Happy & Hot Live event go last week? I saw some pictures online and it looked awesome. Totally different than anything else out there…”

I told Scott that my event felt like an un-seminar.  It was honestly one of the best things I’ve done in my life and turned out far better than I could have hoped.

Here’s the deal. Over the past 5 years or so, I’ve been to more business seminars and live events then you could imagine.  And for the most part, I’ve seen the same “kinds of things” done over and over again.

Meaning? The business seminars are not really seminars at all. They’re pitch fests.

Pic of Ocean

Last week I was in Playa Mujeres, Mexico running my Rich, Happy & Hot Mastermind group.

(Shameless plug: we’re opening registrations for the 2010 group within the next month. Stay tuned.)

I have to admit, part of me was nervous about bringing my gals into a foreign country to a hotel that I had never been to before.

But the truth is I had done my research.

And my intuition, which runs 80% of my business and life, said this place was a total go.

And hot dammit, I was right.

From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty.

Rather than standing at a registration desk, we were whisked over to a beautiful table and seated in plush, white high-back chairs.

Carlos, the bellman, brought over an elegant sliver platter with cool, moistened white mini-towels for us to freshen our face and hands and then offered us each a glass of champagne while we waited for our room keys.

And then over the next 5 days . . .

Email can be a mixed bag.   Random newsletters, requests for interviews, and of course…the ever so popular “enlargement” ads that tell me how much more I’ll satisfy her. (Oy!)

But when an email like this comes in, it’s beyond inspiring.  Don’t know about you, but anytime I learn of another person’s success, it reconfirms my faith in possibilities.

What’s great about what Gina wrote below is that she leaves two “success clues” about what she’s doing differently now that you can implement in your own life.

Here’s her note:

Deciding to be part of the Rich, Happy & Hot Virtual Mastery program was the best decision I’ve made for my business and my life.

Here’s just a fraction of what I’ve accomplished in the first few months.

  • Given myself permission to be the ultra-creative multi-passionate entrepreneur that I am (I’ve stopped trying to fit myself into a “label” or box.  What a relief.)
  • Created and successfully launched Virtual Events Made Easy (with three related programs to follow.)
  • Created an “umbrella” company – Gina Bell, Inc as home base for all that I do. (This is huge for me because I never had the courage to brand under my own name before.)
  • Created and launching a JV eBook publishing company called Collective Genius Publishing
  • Launching the Global Association of Women in Business Online
  • Creating Fun, Fame and Fortune Virtual GatHERing and retreat programs this fall to support multi-passionate online women entrepreneurs like me
  • Launch the Fun, Fame and Fortune Radio Show
  • And, last but not least, my personal relationships are stronger and more rewarding thanks to my new “live in the moment” muscles.

As I write this I think “holy crap!”  And believe it or not, I could probably add more.

But here’s the wild thing. Before RHH, on the surface it would have appeared to most that I was doing everything right but the truth is, I wasn’t experiencing the level of success I really wanted.

And there are two things I’m doing differently now because of RHH, that I believe are essential.

1) I spend more time being completely present – in the moment. Before, I used to waste so much time feeling guilty about the past and worrying about the future. In this frame of mind, I was moving slowly and often completely stuck or stagnant in my business. Now, when I fall off the wagon … I’m able to catch myself quickly using the tools you provide – they bring me back immediately.

2) Now, I’m stretching beyond my comfort zone every day because I’ve surrounded myself with a community of like-minded and motivated women who are committed to live a rich, happy and hot life and who truly care about each other’s success. I ask for and receive help, advice, ideas and support when I need it. And when you have this … it’s almost impossible to fail.

Thanks again for this program.  It’s amazing!

As a heads up, we are closing down the RHH Virtual Mastery Program that Gina’s a member of in under two weeks.   Once the doors shut, we will not open this program again in 2009.   So if you’ve been thinking about joining, now is the time to do it.

Have a beautiful Friday and I’ll see you next week on the “6 Truths The Gurus Won’t Tell You” call.

(Psst. Got questions or feedback? Leave a comment, I’d love to hear from you!)
