This is a special guest post by Johnny B Truant, creator of the new “Question The Rules” program. I’m a fan and after this post, you will be too.
I was pretty hepped up when Marie got in touch recently (inspired, totally living in the moment, and a few cups of coffee ahead of schedule) and asked if I’d accept the awesome honor of being her first-ever guest poster. I’m not sure why this happened.
Maybe it’s because Marie’s new puppy is consuming all of her time, or maybe it’s because I used a shirtless picture of Brad Pitt at the top of my recent post about Fight Club. (Apparently shirtless Brad is the only existing still from that movie.)
But maybe — just maybe — it was because Marie saw in me a bit of what she sees in herself: a non-niche, multi-passionate entrepreneur who seems to pay little attention to the rules of running an online business.
But wait, there’s more
Do you resist diving into the whole social media thing to grow your business?
In this video I’ll give my take on Lia’s question about social media AND you’ll get some targeted advice from one of the hottest social media experts around, my gal Laura Roeder (a.k.a. Rowdy Roeder .)
Wisdom From Laura:
Lia, it is time for you to find the great farmer’s market in the sky!
Um wait a minute, that sounds like I’m talking about heaven. What I’m really talking about is (believe it or not) social media.
I too am a huge farmer’s market fan. I try to hit up my local spot every Friday. (And living in Southern Calfornia means it stays open year round!)
I think there are two main draws of the farmer’s market – the community and the sense of exploration. The community piece is obvious – it’s a great way to meet your neighbors, build relationships, and just have a good excuse to chat with people. The exploration is fun as well – you really never know what you’re going to come across or what crazy new veggie you’ll get to try.
Here’s what is so cool about social media (and why I know YOU in particular are going to love it once you dive in
there is no other way to market that basically mimics hanging out at the farmer’s market!

Five days ago I brought home the most adorable, loving and ridiculously smart little four-legged creature on the planet.
His name is Kuma and he’s a 12 week old Toy Aussie Shepherd.
“Puppies are a ton of work.”
You always hear that, but you never know exactly how much work until your knee deep in wee-pads, chew toys, treats and the overwhelming desire not to fuck up this highly impressionable little being with bad habits because you’re too busy running an online business.
(Note: Dog training books are NOT written for people who live in NYC. There’s a million dollar niche waiting for a smart infomarketer who can whip up something that’s downloadable and tailored for urban puppies that need paper training prior to being street legal.)
We’re also getting ready for the Rich, Happy & Hot Virtual Mastery Program opening up in two weeks or so. If you don’t what that is, it’s my year long coaching program that’s crazy affordable, fun and guarantees you’ll get results or I pay you your money back. Sweet, right?
Anyway, between prep for Virtual Mastery, my Mastery Gals (you ladies freaking rock), normal goofing off with Josh and my new little man Kuma, I have even less time than usual.
Rather than stressing myself out to come up with killer content for the blog, I’d rather give YOU free business/marketing/life advice right here in the form of Q & A.

If you’ve spent any amount of time at all in the coaching or online marketing world, you’ve likely come across high-end mastermind programs.
Dan Kennedy students often call these “Platinum” programs and now there are Emerald, Gold, Silver, Ruby and 100K per year Diamond programs too.
(side note: we need some major innovation when it comes to naming these things people. I’ve been patiently waiting for the mother-of-pearl program.)
About 5 years back, I had my first high-end mastermind experience through my good friend Joe Polish.
Joe’s one of the most connected and generous dudes in the world, and a world class marketer and entrepreneur.
His Platinum mastermind groups, which at the time were aimed at the carpet cleaning niche and cost around 12K per year, hugely impressed me.
Why?
