A Video That Can Change Your Life In 18 Minutes
Do you ever wonder if all the stuff I write and teach about living in the moment really works?
If you have any interest AT ALL in learning how to get the most out of your life, please watch this video immediately.
The description below is directly from the TED site:
“Neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor had an opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: One morning, she realized she was having a massive stroke.
As it happened — as she felt her brain functions slip away one by one, speech, movement, understanding — she studied and remembered every moment. This is a powerful story about how our brains define us and connect us to the world and to one another.”
What do YOU think about this? Are you ready to use more of your “right” brain? Leave your comments and let’s start a conversation.

Wow! Truly AMAZING! The way Jill describes her story and experience is gripping, so passionate and extremely insightful. Especially for those who know of someone who has had a stroke to gain more understanding of what they might have gone through as well for everyone to take something from her experience and become and project more peacefulness within the world.
Thanks Marie for posting this and Jill for sharing your touching story the way you did..
AMAZING AND INSPIRING (LIKE YOU MARIE!)

This impactful video has been directed my way through several different people. I love to see it reaching so many! It awes me that Jill Bolte Taylor is not only a brain scientist who endured a stroke but that she has seeminly fully recovered and is able to articulately and humorously share her touching story. A brilliant piece of TED 2008 - Thank you!!!
Thank you so much Marie! This is a remarkable story with insight, grace and honesty. Bless Jill’s heart for sharing with the world and bless you for sharing with us!
I’ve posted to one of my blogs and will post to the other shortly - this definitely needs to touch as many people as possible.
Hello Marie Forleo!!! All I can say is WOW! WOW! The Jill Bolte Taylor video completely moved me in so many ways. What a great presentation on how to be in the moment. I love how she communicates her experience with “freedom”, “transformation”, and “peace” of being in present time letting go of past and future worries, and that great feeling of euphoria.
Thank you so much for sharing this information. Cheryl

Katana…thanks for stopping by. Once you get really clear that you are NOT those voices in your head, it’s much easier not to listen to them
Lara - thanks for passing it on. Great stuff!
Cheryl…great to hear from in San Fran baby…
Hi Julie! Awesome on sharing with all your yoga students…what a great idea.
Hey Sandy: I’m SOO happy you shared with your family…and I can’t wait to see you in Vegas
Hi Marie,
This video is not new to me but is non the less incredibly powerful. We get so caught up in what we believe is important that we forget that stuff.
I had a similar experience to Jill’s when I was a kid. I was hit by a car (I had crossed the main road my mother had warned me about! Even though I made it to the other side safely a car hit me on the pave ment on the other side.)
I recall feeling very relaxed and having the the pic piture in front of me. i was ready to transition but the ceiling of the hospital room didn’t allow me to go beyond. Luckily because the next minute my mom came in and I could see her from above weeping that I felt such compassion I decided I had to stay. According to the doctors I was unconscious during this time!
Marie, Marie, Marie, this video is amazing and so are you!
I am so impressed with who you are for your audience, what you have accomplished, and am very excited about what’s to come! I really enjoyed your TS last week, and have a lot to learn from you!
The Universe always gives you what you need and I needed this video this week. I was dealt tragic news for 4 people I love in my life and my left brain was on overload. I am still rocked by what’s going on, but this message helped me remember that I am one with them and not only do I share their pain, but they share my light and love. I shared this with many close friends and family.
Shari and I can’t wait to hang out with you in Vegas!
Keep contributing to others, sista!
Love,
Joe
Hi Claudia! Thank you for sharing your story. It’s a sure sign that you wanted to “be here” for a while longer
I’m so very glad you stopped by.
Joe - You’re awesome!! I’m sending my prayers to your friends. You and Shari are such an incredible gift to everyone you know, including me. Can’t wait to be with you both in Vegas
Lots of love xoxo M (ps - can’t wait to see those videos of Shari so I can write about them!)
To all,
I’ve heard a powerful singer (Jessica Kilroy) who moved me, wringing tears from my eyes and giving me chills down my spine and goose bumps on my body, this on a blazing hot day in the shade. I’ve heard inspirational speakers who made me want to “jump for joy.”
But never have I heard such a fascinating and moving description of surely what it feel like to die. Both beautiful with the lifting of the chains that bind us and constrict us to our reality, and…
terrifying of the pain and fear that accompanies us as we slip away, never to see the individuals that surround us or hear the chatter of our own voices in our minds.
I knew earlier today I was nearing a critical turning point in my life. I just needed a little kick in the pants. This video did just that. Thank you Jill.
Peace, Love and Respect

I’ve been recommending a book by Jill Bolte Taylor called “My Stroke of Insight” to everyone I know. It’s an amazing story, both uplifting and powerful on three levels: physical, emotional, and spiritual, but the spiritual aspect alone makes this the best book I’ve read all year.
How often do you get to hear a neuroscientist describe having a stroke, nearly dying and finding Nirvana, and then making a miraculous recovery so that she’s back to teaching medical students!?!
I came away with a renewed sense of understanding, wonder and hopefulness about the capabilities of the human brain. I give “My Stroke of Insight” highest marks!
You can get the book for just $16.47 with free shipping from Amazon!
MY STROKE OF INSIGHT was ranked #5 in all books sold on Amazon today and #1 in Memoirs above even Barbara Walters’ memoir. Babs had been promoting her book for months in advance and Dr. Taylor’s book was self-published.
Then Oprah recommended it. There’s the Power of Now, and then there’s the Power of Oprah!!
“My Stroke of Insight” is out in Hardcover now for less than the old paperback edition. Amazon has it for 40% off.
Can’t wait to read it!! Sounds like an absolutely fabulous book. What I love about her video is how beautifully and honestly she describes the state of being present. Truly amazing. Thanks for sharing about her book!
