Do you ever get confused or frustrated by the contradictory ‘how to get what you want out of life’ advice out there? Sometimes it feels like all the gurus preach opposing information and it can be hard to know who to trust. If you’ve ever felt that way, you’re not alone.

It’s no ’secret’ there’s been a ton of buzz this year about the Law of Attraction and how our thoughts and energy impact our ability to produce results in our life.

Unfortunately, most people who try to use the Law of Attraction to improve their lives find themselves more frustrated and stuck then before. If you’ve ever felt more ‘in your head’ and lost after trying to attract what you want, then you know exactly what I’m talking about.

Last week, I received a brilliant email from Sara in the UK on this very subject. If you’d like to see my take, read on…

READER QUESTION:

“Hi Marie, I’m 45 years old and have read lots of self-help books. I’m really interested in what you said about 98% of the self-help material out there being wrong. Most others teach you to just ‘focus on what you want’ and your life will change. I find myself more and more stuck and not attracting good things.

Many friends have pointed out that I seem to be so focused on learning how to live I haven’t got a life!!! It’s true I am focused on becoming financially free and that takes most of my time and energy, but my point is am I sabotaging myself by digging so deep into my psyche?”

As promised, here’s a picture of my sparkler!  I must admit, I felt a little silly taking a picture of my own hand, but I promised you guys I would in the last issue of Magical Moments. I do my best to not break my word :) .  Josh and I are very excited. Thanks again to all of you who sent congratulatory emails… we so appreciate it.

Here’s a recent picture of my two cuties, Josh and Zane, while at a polo match this summer in Bridgehampton. Zane’s first movie, Margot At The Wedding, is coming out this fall. We can’t wait to see him on the big screen! (Side note: Zane’s voice sounds so different in the trailer; he’s almost 14 now and his voice has definitely changed since they shot this movie :)

On August 14th I landed in Amsterdam at 6:02AM. My NIKE Rockstar colleagues and I sleepily walked outside to get picked up by our driver.

A few minutes passed. No driver. A few more passed. Still no driver.

(Just FYI, we were in Amsterdam to teach the NIKE Rockstar Workout Africa. For me, African dance is new and I LOVE it!) While we were waiting, I looked up and saw this awesome Vodafone Ad.

Ha! Wisdom and inspiration at 6:02 AM. In that moment, I saw we had a choice. We could either stand around and waste time (and get tempted by our thoughts to complain) OR we could rehearse the Africa choreography on the sidewalk while we waited for our driver.

So what did we do? Of course, we danced :). Besides extra rehearsal time, we had fun entertaining fellow travelers and staying warm (that morning was quite chilly!). Within minutes, our fantastic driver Robert appeared to take us to our hotel.

I love the idea of making the most of now - no matter where you find yourself. To some, it may sound trite. To me, it’s a simple recipe for a fantastic experience of life.
